Altered State of Mind

"She's all that I really wanted. All that I carved." I whisper, leaning further into Penelope's chest.

"But, part of me was terrified. Terrified that all this was wrong. That what I was feeling wasn't right, that the butterflies I felt were infected. I felt like dying. But a small part of me was curious. Curious to see if what I felt was real. To see if these feelings were true." I say, my voice cracking. Penelope kisses the top of my head, rubbing circles into my back.

"So, I held her hand, I kissed her lips, I let her consume me in a raging fire. I let her have my heart, served on a silver platter, prepared and perfected for the taking. I let her know every crook and cranny of my brain, I let her inside the doors guarded by demons and dragons. I let her have all of me." I cry, finally letting the tears fall. The older girl tightens her grip on me, as if she was trying to put me back together.
