I just looked at him. Then it hit me. Why him? "Well, because I know you're not the type to easily get attached? And I'm sure, you won't be interested in anything about me."
"Really, huh? How can you be so sure about that-interesting-issue? And, it could possibly affect my career growth." He paused. "Do you really know what you're asking, Ellaine?
"I knew exactly what I'm asking. And I promise you, I would never go after you if that's what you're afraid of. This will only take one shot. If I didn't get pregnant, then it's okay. I will not try to barge in here anymore. Please, Zach."
"I don't really understand all these shit! Why should you do such- - -"
"I told you. I just want to help my friend, Nikki. And I can't afford to lose her baby, just like that." I stopped him mid-sentence.
He eyed me. "You're going to sacrifice your life?" Zach snorted. "Just because of her? What about your career?"
"Zach, she's my best friend and more than that. She's a sister to me, since forever. So, yes! I'm willing to do a little sacrifice, half of my life, because I know it's worth it. And I love her so much." I didn't notice my tears dripped until I felt the back of his palm across my cheeks. And the next thing I knew, he's kissing me. I didn't know where did I got the urge to kiss him back. All I think is that, I should never let this opportunity go.
