*(COMPLETED) "The worst thing about being lied to is knowing you weren't worth the truth." He bit his lip. "I wanted to te-" His eyes began to water and as a single tear fell he looked at me and said "but what if you've been lying for so long you don't know how to tell the truth?" "I have and so will you." He shook his head, shut his eyes, and leaned his forehead against the glass. "And here I was thinking you would admit that you don't tell the truth either." I gripped the telephone as my knuckles turned white. "What do you mean?" "Come on Zoey I've seen you sneaking around acting like you're busy. You're hiding something and you won't tell me." All Zoey Campbell ever wanted to do was keep her head down and get through high school. Too bad it isn't that easy. Zoey is tired of everything and everyone. She is tired of being pushed around and tired of watching in the shadows. She is tired of pretending to like that girl that doesn't even know her name. Tired of pretending that she is ok when she isn't. She is constantly hoping for a better way out thinking she should just disappear. All she wants to do is scream but no matter how loud she screams no one can hear her. Don't worry things just get worse. Everyone thinks she's a "sick" girl and just another suicide case waiting to happen. I mean what kind of girl sits by herself everyday right? Everyone thinks she really is sick but she knows she's not. But what if she is? Maybe all it takes is that one thing to make her snap. As her life gets thrown into chaos and deep dark secrets she can't help but try to figure out the truth. Will she find a way to let her new friends save her or will she just end up as another suicide case? *Disclaimer wrote this in 2017 when I was 14.

𝐌𝐈𝐋𝐋𝐈𝐄 𝐇𝐀𝐑𝐓 𝘘𝘶𝘪𝘦𝘵. 𝘚𝘩𝘺. 𝘕𝘦𝘳𝘥. 𝘗𝘳𝘶𝘥𝘦. That's what everyone calls me while turning up their noses at me. Even if it's true, I don't care. I have a plan. Keep my head down and graduate from Huxley High to get into my dream university. Well, that was my plan. Until something shattered everything I had worked for. Until I started partnering up for an assignment with the daughter of the family who owns the town. She has the world at her feet. Popular, talented, out of everyone's league, with good looks to match. Everyone craves a piece of her and worships the ground she walks on. Except me. What begins with a school project starts invoking feelings in me, awaking something deep and irresistible in me. 𝘍𝘦𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴 𝘐'𝘷𝘦 𝘯𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘧𝘦𝘭𝘵 𝘣𝘦𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘦... I have never truly existed, until her. Ages 14+ (lesbian concepts and some profanity) This is not your everyday love story, okay? It's not a chick flick either. The events and themes within my pages have meaning, depth, truth-and most of all, reality. You are about to be taken on an adventure about a girl who's life is not like everybody else's. I look like a normal teen girl, I mean, I have hair and two eyes and two hands and feet like everybody else, but I couldn't feel more different. I have two moms, yes. Let's just get that out there before you start reading and close my diary like everyone in my life has shut me out of theirs. All I want is a normal life with normal friends who don't judge me because of my home situation. I don't even remember the last time I went on a sleepover or called somebody my age. I don't mean to be a downer, because it does get better. Life gets better. Struggles are only temporary, I know that now. And by my last words reach your eyes, I've come a long way, and have grown to see potential in myself. I'm sharing this with you because I want to make a difference. I know now that I'm not the only one in the world that feels alone. I've been there, done that, and there's more loneliness to come, but for now, I feel more prepared for it. I know how it feels to sit by yourself at lunch every day and how it feels to watch others go to prom with dates and feel like shit because you don't think you'd even have any friends to go with. Please ready my diary. I am much older now, and much more wiser, and I can't wait for you to realize the potential in yourself, too.

--- In the dead of night, Dylan stands on the edge of a bridge, her mind heavy with the pain she's carried for years. The world around her feels as distant and cold as the dark waters below-a mirror to the weight of her broken family and lingering sadness. In that moment, she makes a decision: to step away from it all and find silence in the depths. As she falls, what she expects to be the end takes a surprising turn. Instead of the finality she anticipated, she's pulled into an unexpected chance-a chance to keep going. Her survival, though unplanned, forces her to confront the life she thought she was ready to leave behind. Waking on the riverbank, drenched and aching, Dylan faces a reality that refuses to let her go. The house she returns to feels just as empty, and her father barely notices her presence. Yet, something shifts inside her. As the sun rises, she realizes that while her world remains harsh, there's something more out there, waiting. What comes next isn't an easy path. Dylan's journey forward challenges her, pulling her into new connections and experiences that chip away at the armor she built around herself. Slowly, with each step, she begins to understand what it means to truly live-not just to survive. Dylan's story is not about giving in but about figuring out who she is when everything else falls apart. Through unexpected friendships and moments of clarity, she learns that while the past still lingers, there is more to discover, more to feel, and maybe even more to hope for. ---
