She regarded him with teary eyes, a painful tug in her chest. She opened her mouth and closed it again, the choke of his words still heavy on her throat.
"I am the most selfish person alive," he continued with a shake of his head, a humourless smile on his lips, "it's a good thing that won't be for long"
He made to go.
"But_ w_what if I love you... selfish?" A little voice stammers.
Freezing, he turned to look at the teary-eyed lamb, willing the sacrifice with no idea how painful the stab will be.
