Human size spiders as secretaries that wiggle their fingers to unleash spiders that can do their bidding. Don't get me started on zombies! Those black skeletons can skin the decay and walk among the living! Sirens protecting and guarding the Secret Service. Witches being witches. Vampires and werewolves, why not? Anything can happen.

Especially, to a little girl, Lyria DeQuow on her birthday. Immediately orphaned when walked in to find her father dead by a shadow with yellow eyes that watches her at her window.
