Branden gets a text from his best friend to see something he made. Shortly after returning from the military, he decided to go visit his friend and see what it is that he's made.
Once there, it's late and he falls asleep in his friend apartment building, before going to see the thing on the agreement that they'll see it in the morning.
Our story starts in the morning after, where Branden, his friend, and other's lives change forever...

The distant future. The war between androids and humanity has recently ended. The humans barely won, losing many technologies. A little time has passed, and a new threat has emerged. The emperor of one of the empires wants to enslave everyone, and the Republic of free planets is forced to enter the war. The Republic's scientists invent a new engine, but it needs a lot of gold. One of the ships of the free planets goes to a newly discovered, backward planet. It is inhabited by humans, but communication with other planets has long been lost, and the people have slipped into a feudal-slave system. The scientists on the ship can't directly show their presence because of the rules and decide to turn some crew members into gods so they can collect gold. But first, the scientists decide to organize a rebellion on the planet. The godlike have to face many difficulties.
