On her seventh birthday when Amara/Kari uses her magic to threaten the Dursley's into leaving her alone, it comes out that her parents didn't die, they abandoned her in favor of her twin brother, and gets angry and in the process unlocks her soulmate bond with the two alive Mikaelson Brothers.
