When twelve-year-old Sam Baron discovers a strange dwarf in his garage, he has no idea he is about to embark on a journey to the magical realm of Orkney. Raised in Pilot Rock, Oregon, Sam's father vanished when he was eight. His substitute English teacher scares him with her emerald green eyes. As black Shun Kara wolves begin stalking him, Sam's life turns upside down when he discovers he is from Orkney and that his father has been cast into a stone by the witches that live there. Drawing on Norse mythology, The Red Sun follows Sam's journey to uncover the truth about his past. With only a young witch girl named Mavery to guide him, Sam must navigate this new world and stop an ancient curse that turns the sun a poisonous red before it destroys the land.
