Maya has dreamed of competing in the winter Olympics ever since she could tie her ice skates. That dream just might become reality when a once in a lifetime opportunity appears at her doorstep. After years and years of hard work, dedication, and too many pairs of blades, she finally gets to live her fantasy and skate in the big leagues. When the big day arrives the only thing Maya can feel is excitement, a numbing, stomach-turning excitement, but excitement all the same. That is, until, something awful happens. A leap and a slip and a stretcher are all Maya can remember from that awful moment. Bedridden and "half crippled" as she likes to call it, Maya may never skate again. Her spiral into sadness had begun until one day while acting on a suggestion from her dad, she finds something new. Writing. A new passion? Maybe not, but something to do? Yes.
