Dover, BC is a town riddled with drug abuse, poverty, and crime. All of this is new to Birkley Anderson, a girl from the interior who has never witnessed a drug deal, let alone an overdose. This is painfully obvious to Alec, and after watching her get into trouble two days in a row, he takes it upon himself to try and protect her from the dangers in his town. Unfortunately, he's a magnet for trouble, as are all his best friends, and he may be doing more harm than good.
Justin Cameron is a good kid, when he lands in detention he meets Jacob (Jay) Harris. Jay is the opposite of him, he's rebellious and is known as the school's resident bad boy troublemaker. In any other universe they wouldn't even think about interacting with one another, but here they were.
Jay is dating Justin's friend Craig. As Justin starts to get closer to Jay, everyone warns him to stay away from Jay. But does he listen and stay away, or does he not?
Justin doesn't know why he is told to stay away from him. What is the reason, is there more to Jay than meets the eye? Is he more than just a troublemaker? What is hiding behind Jay's angst and attitude?
As Justin tries to answer these questions, he realizes he might not be able to fight temptation and might have just done the one thing he swore he wouldn't: fall in love with Jay Harris.
