Lovelorn is a collection of stories revolving around different people in different situations, all from the pain of the Hanahaki disease.

Hanahaki - a disease wherein the receiver's lungs get infested with flowers, causing the receiver to cough out petals or stems. This happens when someone has unrequited romantic feelings, and will only get worse the longer it continues until death. It can be cured by having their feelings requited, or going through surgery that will remove the person's feelings for the other permanently.

hanahaki / hän.ä.hä.kî / a rare disease caused due to the feeling of unrequited love. In most cases the diagnosed is known to experience excessive coughing sessions and throwing out flower petals of their beloved's favourite kind of flower accompanied by some blood and/or mucus. Some other symptoms might include chest pains, shortage of breaths and fainting. Methods of treatment and cure are yet to be discovered. Surprisingly, Wen Junhui of Seventeen is rumoured to be diagnosed with the disease and not so surprisingly, the rumours are true. Junhui does indeed cough up the blue primrose petals from time to time, Joshua's favourite kind. They suddenly stop by the time he had started coughing up the individual petals of 3-4 Primroses. Junhui is happy, with himself and his beloved who seems inclined to stay by his side. One unfortunate night and they are back again. Way more vigilant in their stance this time. Will he survive it this time as well?? TW: angst, character death (if you want to put it that way)

However, that all changes when the fairy king finds himself coughing up pink gerbera daisies. ʜᴀɴᴀʜᴀᴋɪ ꜱᴇʀɪᴇꜱ: 1/3 The Hanahaki disease is an illness born from unrequited love, where the victim's throat will fill up with flowers and they will then begin to throw and cough up petals (sometimes even whole flowers). There are only two ways to cure the disease; it is if the person they love returns the feelings or it can be removed through surgery, though the feelings disappear along with the flowers. If neither of the options is chosen or made, the victim's lungs will fill up with flowers and eventually suffocate them. Killing them.
