Casper Wickens, high school student and resident depressed teenager, was less than thrilled to be starting his senior year following a mid-summer breakdown that had him hospitalized for a week. Despite his abysmal position in the social food chain before the summer had begun, gossip spread like wildfire in a small town, so he was sure to go back to sympathetic gazes and pitiful stares from people he barely knew.

The worst part is his therapist's insistence on his involvement in an extra curricular to help him "reach out" and "make friends" and "talk to people," despite the fact that he already had a perfectly good person to talk to.

The fact that that person was Teddy, a character he created in his freshman creative writing class, was beside the point. Casper was perfectly content having pretend conversations with his made-up friend, knowing it was just a game but finding solace in it nonetheless.

Even so, upon his journey across after-school clubs to choose one to fit his interests, Casper finds one constant-Elliot Lee, who has enrolled himself in every club after transferring from a private school in California. The eccentric teen was like a breath of fresh air, pulling Casper slowly away from his comfort zone, but will it be enough to break him out of his habits and build a lasting, healthy relationship with someone real?

"If I could pick anyone in the entire world, in the entire world, Will, I'd still choose you." *** William Nile has always felt a lack of control in his life. His head's clustered and the past likes to eat at his thoughts. Isolation is a synonym for safety and staying neutral is a key ingredient for survival. He's always felt more put together when he was a mess; always felt like the world was clearer in the dark. He can't help it, this is just how it's always been. Then comes along a new foster family who throws him for a loop. They're exactly who they say they are, exactly who they act to be. With that comes a goofy boy named Clement and his best friends, annoying twins who laugh loudly- -good luck telling Jude and Demi apart- -and a girl named Minnie who has a god complex. Will knew from the day he arrived that he needs to focus on acting the way his foster moms want, on getting good grades, at playing soccer well and making sure that for once, he doesn't mess up. He knows he doesn't want to lose these friends, knows he wants to feel wanted and needed and understood. Because here, there is more focus on his mental health than there is on if he's acting the 'right' way. Here, there is room for growth and change past a foster parent's ideal child. Here, there's no room for entertaining the idea of him with a pretty boy who has a witty smile and a loud laugh. On that last note, he has no idea what to do (and Will is someone who likes to plan ahead). *** A coming of age story.

High school, a teenager's hell, but it can also be a place where you start on a path you didn't even know you were on. After the incident he was in his freshman year causing him not only to be homeschooled, but gain some serious insecurities, Elijah Mulligan has decided to be brave and come back in person for his senior year. That is, after the new football coach of two years, his father, convinces him to meet some of the players he's been coaching. One in particular catches his eye, and despite swearing to himself he'd never fall for someone again, before he knows it the captain of the football team is coming over to study with him and sooner than he likes Elijah finds himself staring into his eyes more than just a friend should. Growing up, all he wanted was to be loved as much as he loved others. What with an emotionally and physically absent step mother and a distant father who doesn't realize his son isn't a straight-A making machine, Chase Lawrence has developed a bad habit of stressing way too much over school work and having a burning desperation for a distraction. That didn't tend to mix well with his current girlfriend of three months who he's never gone on a single date with because she always had an excuse. Then, all of a sudden the endless loop of exhaustion and disappointment breaks when Chase finds himself magnetically drawn towards his Coach's son, and looking at him a lot more than someone already in a relationship should. So, what happens when a boy still recovering from the trauma he gained his freshman year and a quarterback wanting a relationship where he can finally be himself, start to like each other? Well, hopefully, maybe, they can give each other some stress relief. *** Copyright status: [All rights reserved]
