A city that has always been deeply submerged in folklore, in the myths and legends of monstrous beings. Tales of ghosts roaming the cobbled streets. Vampires stalking the French Quarter. Masters of voodoo pricking their dolls.

But what if the truth was worse than any of the myths?

Divided equally into five districts, the underbelly of New Orleans is ran by a plethora of mafia-esque monster families. Submerged into a dangerous game of power, wealth, and loyalty, the New Orleans monsters reigning the city live their lives by an abundance of medieval rules that are meant to keep their existence a secret and the balance intact. Everything that the city stands for is built on a precarious hierarchy that rules over the largest monster community in the Northern Hemisphere.

When Elena's sister, the next leader of the Shapeshifters, is brutally killed, the delicate balance that has kept the city from war for over three hundred years shatters. As the monster community throws blame, others are all too willing to set fire to the city and call for war.

If Elena can't uncover the secrets the city and its inhabitants are determined to keep buried, New Orleans will become a battleground of the most powerful monsters in history. Her one hope of finding the truth amongst liars, lies with an old forbidden flame who is one of the most malicious monsters the city has ever seen.
