"Cherrytalon is dead!" A yowl split the silence of the camp in half. Cats emerged from gaping holes of their dens, yawning or lashing their tail in irritation. Most cats had a confused look in their sleepy gazes; who was causing so much ruckus at moonhigh? A shockwave of silence fell over the camp as a split wail of grief erupted from a young she-cat. She rushed forwards, burying her nose into Cherrytalon's fur. Most cats had realized what was happening at this point, and chaos sprung up, washing away any form of exhaustion. "The deputy is dead!" "Cherrytalon is gone!" The rose-colored she-cat was still clinging to the deceased, wailing like a little kit. "Mother, don't leave me!" She pleaded desperately. ~~~~~ Rumors spread quickly. The daughter, Morningrain, hardly moved from her nest to get prey. She was heartbroken at her mother's sudden departure. So when young Morningrain is appointed deputy, almost everyone instantly knows. Aspenstar's empathy had went too far this time, picking an inexperienced warrior who's never even trained an apprentice. __________________ When young Morningrain is appointed the new deputy to fill her mother's role when she abruptly passes, everyone knows it was out of pity for the inexperienced warrior. Their was an uneasy air to the clan; was Morningrain able to do her duties responsibly? Everyone secretly had their doubts about the new deputy. So when Aspenstar suddenly dies in a war that strips him of his last lives, the clan is in chaos. Morningrain is to take over their clan. Everyone knows she is inexperienced, and fears the worst. Is Morningrain suited for the job? How will she lead her clan? Morningrain struggles through day-to-day life as a leader. So when a dangerous prophecy is told of to all the clans, Morningrain's life falls apart. No cat fears for the future of the clan more than Morningrain does, as she makes inexperienced and sudden choices that could lead to the downfall of her clan.
