The residents of Wimbledon, Meredith, New Hampshire have a dark superstition that ruins childhood dreams. In most cultures, the tooth fairy is creature that comes to retrieve your teeth from under your pillow, preserving memories and replacing them with small coins, but in this small town, the fairy tale is a twisted horror story told to scare away visitors.
This is the legend from a story that I am currently working on.

Everyone on Berk believes Toothless to be the last Night Fury, the only one of his kind left.
