Nova's family has one enemy. An enemy so powerful, so far-off and impossible to face, he doesn't even seem like a real person anymore. He is simply the Dragon King. It has been so easy for Nova to hate him from afar, remember the atrocities he committed, all the thousands he slaughtered before signing peace treaties with all mortal races, and renouncing his savage ways.

Now he sits pretty in a brand new castle, in a brand new Capitol City he built to erase the memory of his own past. Yet to Nova's family, he will always be a threat. When they catch wind of his plan to demolish their family's home in the remote Heavenly Birch Forest to make room for his expanding treasure horde, Nova decides she can no longer sit back and do nothing. She sets out to the Capitol City, and works her way into a position as the Dragon King's maid. There, she hopes to blackmail the powerful beast into sparing her family's forest, and their lives.

When she finally meets the legendary Dragon King face to face, she finds a man so much more powerful - and beautiful, and lonely, and complicated - than she had ever imagined. Quickly she realizes all is not as it seems, and that everyone, even an ancient and terrifying Dragon King, deserves a second chance.

"A dragon and its rider. They are not mere companions but a single entity, united in spirit and purpose until their last breath." - Flight Master Soren Beck. Falamor was divided into two regions, The North and The South. In the northern reaches lies Ashe Academy, a prestigious battle academy dedicated to training elite Dragon Riders for the approaching war against the Southern kingdom, which sought to bring the North to its knees. Jaeda was a 19-year-old orphan conscripted into Ashe Academy. Could she survive to become a Dragon Rider? Carlyle Rayne was a privileged Prince of the North who was expected to attend Ashe Academy and gain the same prestige as his family. Surviving was one thing; mastering combat and Dragonology was another, especially under the watch of the Wing Commander, who happened to be Prince Carlyle Rayne. Would Jaeda remain Flightless or soar higher than she could ever imagine? "Dragons are a proud and ancient species. They have ruled the sky long before humanity, were once the rulers of this realm." - Hana Kol, Master Dragonologist of Ashe Academy. *** Before you ask, NO - FOUTH WING didn't inspire me; it was How to Train Your Dragon and Game of Thrones. Hence the tags to get my story noticed. I'm sorry for the confusion, this is NOT a fan fiction of either of those fandoms. It's my story. It's unedited, a work in progress, a passion project. I would love feedback! Both in Jaeda's POV and Carlyle's POV. What are you?" I say as I step closer to the black cage. "No one in particular." The entity says in a bone-chilling tone. "Why are you here?" I ask as I try to look at whatever this creature is residing in my mind. "Question's, questions, questions...." It says as it comes closer to me. "The real question is. Magic or family? The choice will change her life forever. *** Lillith Hemlock is the last in a long line of Hemlock witches, but her parents renounced magic as evil before she was born. After witch hunters burn down their house, Lilly's family moves in with her grandparents--practicing witches living in a town of magical creatures. Lilly falls in love with magic but fears practicing it will make her parents hate her. Before she can decide between magic and family, she's swept up into a conflict between Kyton--a fairy boy striving to save his dying father--and the vicious dragon who holds the cure. While fighting alongside Kyton, Lilly discovers frightening secrets from her past, a dark bloodlust that could destroy her budding romance with Kyton, and a hidden enemy working right under their nose.
