Shailene Olsen get her heartbroken by her cocky ex-boyfriend, Daniel, after finding out that he has cheated on her over the summer. After weeks of getting over him, never in her life has she thought of falling in love with her 11 year-best friend, Angus Walker, who has always been by her side and caring for her from the time they first met. She soon finds herself the happiest and safest whenever she is around him.

Angus Walker goes through many rough times in his life, including the abandonment of his father and the tragic death of his mother from brain tumor. Since his father left the family when he was still eight years-old, he has always hated him. He believes that his father is the reason why his mother got sick from the first place. When his mother died, he’s never been so broken. His hatred for his father built up until he decides to set revenge after leaving him and the family, and after his mother’s death.

Shay stays by Angus’s side through his dark times, trying anything she can to make him happy. However, she disagrees about setting revenge on his father. This risks the precious friendship and relationship between the two. Would Angus let his father go and stay with Shay, or do things the other way? Would he choose his mother, or his girlfriend/best friend?
