Bella decides to move to Forks after being raped and torture by two vampires who are a part of the Volturi Clan. She doesn't think she would be able to trust a vampire again, until Edward Cullen comes along. He confesses he loves her, after he saves her from herself. Time seems to be against them, after being in Forks for just a week Bella begin throwing up blood, dizzy spells, and nose bleeds. Carlisle discovers Bella has a severe case of internal bleed, she only has fifty percent chance survival rate. She doesn't wake up six hours after surgery, it's a sign that the odds are against her.
