I was walking on the sidewalk under the intense rays of the sun. I felt droplets of sweat racing it's way down to my chin.
"Aaaahhh!!!"
A shriek made its way to my ears, making my head turn to its direction. There I saw a man chasing a woman. I wanted to look away, but I couldn't get myself to. My eyes were locked to the man. He was the definition of perfect, his jawline was defined, his face could be compared to a god's, he had muscles enough to make a girl fall completely, his skin was perfectly tanned, making it shine .
It was as if time stopped for me and all I saw was him. Then, I heard a snap.
"Hey, Brielle"
I snapped out, oh. It's none other than my best friend, Mara.
"Brielle, what're you looking at?"
"It's nothing, don't mind me"
"Ishhh, You're wasting you're time here. Hurry up! We're going to be late for the first class."
Mara pulled my arm and dragged me to class. We reached the classroom and slowly knocked on the door.
"Good morning Ms. Lativia and Ms. Folipiano. Please pick your seats and wait for the bell to ring."
"Thank you miss" we replied in unison.
We immediately searched for vacant seats in the classroom. The room was almost full, but we found three empty chairs at the back, I think that's fine.
"Mara, over there"
I pulled Mara's hand and she put her bag on the seat beside mine. A few minutes later, the bell rang and class started.
*They hated her at first... but they had no idea who she really was.*
...........
Serena Carter was just trying to live-trying to find peace in the mess that was her life. But one accident changed everything.
Abandoned. Alone. She was sent to live with the Morettis-four brothers and a father who wanted nothing to do with her. She was the reminder of their mother's biggest betrayal, the stain on their perfect legacy. Ten months. That's all she had to survive before she turned eighteen and walked away for good. Easy, right?
Wrong.
Because the Morettis might have convinced themselves they hated her, but hate was a tricky thing-it turned into obsession, into protectiveness, into something none of them were ready for. They thought they knew her, thought she was just a mistake that could be ignored.
They had no idea.
Because Serena had secrets-ones even she didn't fully understand. And in a world where power was everything, she was about to become the most dangerous piece on the board.
She wasn't just a mistake. She was a Moretti.
