Children born into the shadows of war are never quite right. It is a truth that Vasily Aleksandrov has always known. He has never known peace, though he longed for it.
The Old Gods did not give privy to those whom paid their debts. Only the Saints heeded the fervent prayers for an end to the bloodshed.
Vasily knows this, for he has seen it himself. There was no mercy to be found in this world. Greed destroyed Al-Mirtha and saw to its destruction. With the hounds of war sounding at every corner of the world, Death would come for them all.
The Korisovo King sits on his throne as the dead remain restless and builds a kingdom of corpses from the shallow graves and dunes.
Inspired by a longing for justice, there is no end Vasily will go through to see to the death of a king. He would see the world reborn, or he would see it burned to the ground.

Meanwhile, the Druids delved into the dark side of nature, making pacts with gods of the afterlife who demanded blood sacrifices. The Elder Druid, consumed by envy, plotted to steal the witches' power. Spreading lies about their wickedness to mortals, the Druids convinced them that only witch burnings could lift the curse. The Elder Druid's greed knew no bounds, and he sought the Goddess's book, whispering more falsehoods about the witches. Fear gripped the land, and countless innocent men and women were burned at the stake until the witch hunts finally ceased in the late 17th century. The two High Strega, the last of their kind, devised a plan to protect their magic and revive the Witchline. The Goddess revealed a prophecy: when a daughter of Dark and a son of Light possessed the book, the Witchline would be restored.
