Whenever I tell people about myself, I am told that I should write a book about my life. My children are fascinated by the stories I would tell them from my memories of having been born into a small village in South Korea. They tend to laugh and tell jokes about most of what I tell them about my experiences growing up. Whenever they tell their friends that I was born in Korea and came into the United States as a child, the questions and comments always arise. One time someone said to my youngest daughter, "It must have been very difficult for your father to have gotten over here. How did he manage to get across the border?" Apparently they must have thought that I was from North Korea. So for a long time my kids would joke around with their friends about how I managed to escape North Korea and came to the United States to find a better life. Because my wife is of Irish descent, my children do not have strong Asian features. Most times people are surprised when the tell them that their father is Korean and was born there.
I am one out of the tens of thousands who were adopted from South Korea. This story that I am going to share with you are my memories. It will show you how for the most part, I am very fortunate. Also, you will see the difficulties I have had to endure. My story is unique, but be mindful that there are so many others that are similar.
So, if you gain some inspiration from this, then I am glad. Because you will see how blessed I have been throughout my life. I started from a small primitive village, to having traveled the world. Experience the wondrous life I have lived through forty plus years of my memories.
