Elora is a 15 year old girl who works for Thomas, a cruel farmer along with 9 year old Esmae. Elora is constantly abused emotionaly, menatlly, and phisically, but she thinks she can never get away from it. Elora finds evidence that maybe her parents didn't get rid of her, and maybe Thomas didn't just find her floating down the river after her parents abandoned her.
