In this au, Loki didnt pretend to be Odin during The Dark World, he just faked his death to go soul searching, without anybody looking for him. He finds himself back on Earth, consumed by his own guilt, hanging onto a sliver of hope to rewrite his story. That's where he meets Doctor Stephen Strange.
(Its also important to mention that this takes place before Ragnorok.)
