Brooke Haven has always been labeled as 'boring'. An she didn't mind it, she was fine being alone. As long as she has a book with her. Brooke's love for books eventually leads her to taking a summer job at her local library. When Brooke stumbles upon an old book she finds that there is more to the library then meets the human eye. When the librarians tell her that they are part of a race known as the Prophet of the page, indebted with guarding scrolls filled with prophecy of the future. Soon Brooke is introduced into an entirely different world and pulled into a war as old as time. When Brooke meets the charming Eric (a warlock) and the dashing Levi (a vampire) her reality is thrown into overdrive. Will Brooke be able to over come a lercking evil or will her new knowledge consume her? Will she be able to survive the war?

Helen's parents demand that she marry the man they've chosen for her or be disowned. She chooses to be disowned. But that isn't good enough for them. They make sure that she either doesn't get jobs or they make sure that she gets fired from them. She loses her apartment and all her things do to them.
