Soul mate tattoos, quite the phenomenon no one will ever completely get. Many scientists and historians have tried creating theories to solve it, but none have been successful. Many give up, or accept the fact it is a mystery that may not be solved. What is a soul mate tattoo, you may ask? Well, it's a tattoo that is completely permanent and painless. You see, it's a tattoo that shows up on your right wrist, anytime between ages thirteen and fifteen, though, rarely, it may show up as late as your eighteenth birthday. It says your soul mate's first name and last initial. No further information. Some people wait their entire lives to find their mate. Some die without ever knowing. Some marry people who aren't their soul mates, so they aren't alone forever. Some search forever, looking at everyone's wrists. Others don't care enough, covering their tattoo with a watch or bracelet. Reagan Troy-Paige got her tattoo abnormally early in life. She was almost ten years old when it had shown up. She had been putting on a bracelet, when she saw the curvy writing on her wrist. 'Louis A.' That day, and the rest of the year, the young child was the most envied girl at her school, getting her tattoo before people three, four, even five grades ahead. Now, in late 2014, Reagan is almost twenty, her birthday on New Year's Eve. She has yet to find her mate, after ten years, but also has yet to give up. She wants to find her mate. Louis. Soulmates, we're always told we have one but I haven't been so sure I do. I mean I did get my tattoo and it hasn't disappeared yet, meaning they aren't dead. I guess believing in something like that takes a lot of effort. When you first touch your soulmate (Skin to skin contact) your tattoo turns a solid color. That color is the most important color in your life at the moment you touched. In this world, there's a system to tell who your soulmate is. Nobody remembers how it happened but, one day people started getting these tattoos on their right wrist. These tattoos are a basic shape that resembles your soulmate's hair. The shape is filled in completely by the color of your soulmate's hair as well. In the center of the tattoo, there are 1-5 objects. Those objects describe what your soulmate loves to do. The shape of my tattoo always fascinated me but I've never been able to put it into words. My tattoo shape is an upside-down half-circle if instead of the bottom part being flat, it opens and curves outwards. In the center of my tattoo was a volleyball, it always was a volleyball, it's never changed once. You see naturally, people tend to change hobbies, but whoever my soulmate was, they didn't change theirs, I never changed mine either which is fascinating. In this society, everyone has a soulmate. And the way to find yours is just look. Along with a soulmate, everyone has a small tattoo on their cheek with a symbol. Some could be a star, a flower, a yinyang, a fish, or even waves. There are so many people that the symbols are almost limitless. The tattoos don't care about gender or number. There could be gay matches, and there could even be polyamorous matches. The tattoos will tingle when you are near to your sm. And they will glow if you have found only one of your sm's if your match was poly. The trick is, you don't get the tattoo until you are 16. For 2 years Violet also paniced but she knew that some people don't find their sm for 5-10 years after they come of age, so she wasn't as scared as Harper.
