The Runaway

Denice Martin is a 13 year old girl living in modern Texas, USA. Due to her mother's death and her father's affair, Denice is stuck living alone with her older sister, Janice.

With help from the stress of providing for the both of them and the highschool exams coming up, Janice is about to split down the seams and kick her sister out for some peace, despite that Denice has never done anything wrong.

Tired of Janice's verbal abuse when she's angry and her sister's boyfriend constantly coming over to "help" with studying for the exams, Denice decides to leave the house and live on her own. She had everything she needed and already had a plan, so living on her own can't be that hard, right?

(This book is inspired by a story that almost came true for one of my close real-life friends. She's doing fine now, but she almost ran away from home with the help of me and another real-life friend. It was a dangerous situation, but she's still here and doesn't plan to leave again, despite keeping supplies with her just in case. ;D)

(Mature themes. I will touch lightly on topics such as harrassment and rape, but will never go full detail. However, I will openly use cuss words in my dialogue and go into more mature themes such as alcohol use, strip clubs, and some triggers for people with depression and/or anxiety. I suggest you be at least 13 if reading this story. Also, I will provide warnings at the top of any chapters that may be deemed 'graphic' or 'not suitable for younger people.' Thank you.)
