"You're a drifter" he stated, his blue eyes boring into mine. "Excuse me?" I replied, my brows furrowing in confusion. "A drifter" he repeated. "Just repeating it isn't going to magically make me understand what you mean" his games were getting tiring now. I looked away to the sea on the horizon. "You float from day to day never telling people enough so that they can understand you but enough so that they don't ask questions." he paused "You never trust anyone with yourself." he finally said. "And why do you think that?" I asked, turning back from the view to him. "Because I do the same thing" he whispered after another elongated pause, his head tilting to the floor. And it was in that moment that he was truly vulnerable and, without him having to tell me, I knew how much I meant to him, and it hurt because I knew I couldn't ever feel the same way.
