Avarein, the land of magic. Settled upon by a large group of people coming from seemingly nowhere, the Mageborn grow and thrive for two 'ages'. Over the two thousand years they creating a functioning society, discover new magic and fight off new threats that seem to appear out of nowhere, living pointless yet exciting and relatively long lives. As time passes their culture becomes more varied with each village having their own pride while their governing becomes more united under the council.

At the inception of the third age, the technologists appear riding ships of steel, settling on the shores of Avarein. At first they are given a small amount of land to use freely, but soon they demand for more. They lack magic, but their weapons of made of twisted steel prove a major threat.

With an all-out war between the nature-bound Mageborn and the rapidly-growing Technologists being imminent, both sides prepare their armies. Tensions between both groups are restless, whispers of death seep through the land and echoes of the past look on in silence.

The current year is 009, in the third age.

Vant Decium, the abandoned child of the head of holy knights, wants to be a hero.

Daniel Reas Age: 23 Profession: Game - Alpha Tester Social Status: Single/Virgin While testing a new game he is transported to a new world know as the Verdant Realm. It is filled with Gods and Goddesses, Elves, Dwarves, High-humans known Aesir, Vanir and Barbarians, Animals, Dragons, and more. However, the world is not what it seems, and a foretold cataclysm may yet destroy it before he's strong enough to save it. --(!)-- The backdrop of this fantasy world is both beautiful and harsh. The Prime Races escaped Midgard just before a global cataclysm at the height of their Age of Science, Sorcery, and Pagan Religion. of their pagan religious culture. Within there side-slip dimension called the Green Realm, Verdant Realm, or the Garden. They grew side-by-side with mankind on Midgard until present day. 5000 years later their culture is steeped in pagan traditions that have led to prostitution being sanctioned and promoted by various churches, and very open and even incestuous life-styles. The ratio of monogamous to polygomist relationships is about 50/50. Harems and reverse harems are equally commonplace. Given the very limited animal resorces they brought with them they used science and magic to splice every animal species with Alari, Dvergr, or Giant DNA creating hybrids named the Animals, Insects, and various marine life. Later they spliced certain tree's DNA into Alfari thereby creating the Arboreals. Even in a fantasy there is oppression, racism, religious anamosity, political corruption, and corporate greed. In the Garden Realm the fantastic is everywhere, and sometimes it's hard to live but brutally easy to die. (Warning: This is an adult fantasy with graphic adult themes and scenes. Graphic nudity, sex, violence, and language.)

SHADOW IS AZH'NAHN, A POWERLESS MAGE born into a culture that prides itself in sharing the earth's powers. When he chooses a life of voluntary exile to preserve his family's honor, Shadow receives a mysterious call to witness the unearthing of kotrakoy, treacherous telepathic beasts with four wings and four rows of teeth. As he watches their unholy resurrection with great horror, kotrakoy open their minds to his and offer a glimpse into what life would be like wielding a mage's powers. As Shadow races to warn his people of the impending threat, he discovers a mysterious Trayki woman hanging from the trees and on the verge of death. Uncertain what to do, Shadow initially hesitates to rescue this woman whose people embrace technology and eschew his culture. As Shadow tends to her glider crash wounds, the earth unites them in a soul bond, a sacred union that gives Shadow an unerring duty to protect and preserve her life. And that duty will be fraught with peril: Trayki troops begin bombing Hiwalani villages and while losses mount, magic evolves and Shadow's people lose their power. The Hiwalani must rely on inexperienced youth to master the new magic and stop enemy attacks. Desperate to save their people, few make any progress at all. Only the outcast azh'nahn seems to understand it - and very few trust his judgment. When Shadow believes he's unlocked the solution, it involves empowering the most deadly kotrakoy and risking the complete annihilation of his people. While his solution sounds reasonable in theory, there is no time to test it - it's UNPROVEN.

[Wattys2018 Shortlist] [Bootcamp Mentorship Mentee 2020] [Insidious Awards - 1st place/Action/Adventure] "Squinty, I... Help me! Please! You have to help me!" Squinty huffed at him as the horse might snort at an annoying fly it couldn't get rid of. "A...a... an apple," he stammered. "I just... stole an apple!" ---- When water is controlled by those in power, even a mere apple can be a catalyst. For Squinty, it was the start of everything. Finding Grizzly. Losing Roko. Becoming a Vigil. Discovering she had the power to become invisible. For Nalina, the threat of a new Water War was even closer to home; her beloved brother was the one initiating it. To Drian, water formed the core of his belief system, defined who was - and was not - worthy, and justified the treatment of the underground-dwelling Wellers. An orphan girl, determined to do what was right. A princess, petitioning for peace. An abbot, torn between his religion, and his experience. Each with an Etching, a unique power that surely makes them special; a tie to something more, something extra, something beyond the Squareworld. The Last Knights of Cambria Book 1: Echoes of Gideon od kullman
Části: 16 Dokončeno
Gideon Saint is dying for something exciting to happen in his life. With his love of history, he figures an internship at the museum has to be a good start, right? Anything is better than listening to his parents argue or sitting alone in his room doing research no one but him seems to care about. A chance encounter with a magical ring leaves him transported to an alternate version of ancient Wales, or as it was sometimes called, Cambria. 1432 Wales, to be exact. Here magic is the most powerful weapon of all as kings vie for power. Good thing Gideon's teleportation from the present has also left him with the ability to use magic, and he's quickly regarded as a powerful wizard. In this timeline, Wales maintained it's independence, but that's about to change. Henry V is on the throne of the England, and the greatest warrior king England has ever had has set his sights on Wales. Can Gideon help save his newfound friends and master his new powers, while living a double life in the 21st century? Ahem, living people die, dying people live, Henry V is here and he's awesome despite being the main antagonist, everybody is vaguely gay, swords are described in loving detail, people are not, lovely platonic friendships, did we mention swords? Yes, you may learn something about history, but that's a risk you'll have to take. Basically, think of this as a Percy Jackson type of adventure, but it's historical fiction instead of Greek gods. The narrator is 15 and the major supporting characters are 14, 17, and 19. That said, there's nothing in the way of content that's inappropriate for a younger reader. As always if you're not here to go on a fun little adventure find a different story. Trigger/Content: very mild language, some magic violence, fantasy violence. Self-harm is briefly discussed. Adoption issues are discussed as well as brief scenes of a abusive family. Characters briefly mention crushes and or dating, no real innuendos.
