As a note to those unfamiliar with the smackdown:
The Wattpad Science Fiction Smackdown is hosted by the joint account ForbiddenPlanet. The idea of this round was that each contestant was to pick four pictures out of eight posted in a discussion, and encorporate them into a science fiction short story with 2000-6000 words. The pictures I used are on the side in a slideshow.

SmackDown: Back to Our Roots
Our previous two SmackDowns were both massive successes, and it's high time for another. You might remember the last one was heavy on the "game" elements, maybe even too heavy. This time we're going back to the basics and keeping it simple. It's just a motherfuckin' sci-fi SmackDown: a heated writing contest where contestants are given text-, music- and visual-based prompts, and then they need to write a short story around that, following which they're judged for their efforts and either move on to the next round or they get eliminated from the competition. But there's gotta be some kind of twist, right? For this one we're waxing nostalgic, we're looking back into our past. We're going back to our roots.Complete

@Ooorah and @LayethTheSmackDown sponsor this flash fiction contest each year. We Smackdowners write stories on prompts for (hopefully) several rounds, based on a theme, and the last writer standing is the winner. These are my entries.
The Fabulous Spec-Fic Smackdown
I've decided to jump into the latest smackdown hosted by LayethTheSmackDown and Ooorah. This is where I'll be posting my entries. It's been fun and challenging doing these in the past and it's good motivation to churn out some stories. I haven't managed to win one yet, but in a way that's beside the point. Hopefully I can last a few rounds, but if not, that's okay, too. Good luck to all who decide to participate!
