30 years after the ending of the vampire dairies 

Elena and Damon's kids are old enough to go to the Salvatore boarding school.
Stefan, Tyler and Jenna are the first children of cured vampires, but that doesn't mean they don't have some supernatural abilities of their own or maybe their is more to the Salvatore and Gilbert lineage then we thought.
