A boy born into his pack with the Mark of the Wolf. He was meant to become their next king, the Alpha. The boy barely old enough to understand the significance of the Mark. Most treated him with kindness, and most were loyal to the Mark. Which is passed down through the bloodlines. Some however, have been slowly gaining bodies, those who are known as the Dissenters. They no longer believe that they should be governed by the luck of the litter pup born into their pack. A runt of the litter who is scrawny, has no leardership skills, or strength to keep their pack whole. A skiddish boy pup who is born with a mark and they are suppose to bow down to him? No, the Dissenters want a strong king, they want an Alpha that will fight and take back what is theirs.

The girls parents loved their daughter. They would do anything to protect her, and if that meant that they had to make the ulimate sacrifice that was exactly what they were willing to do. Little did they know their young daught seeer would have to face an up hill battle with no one by her side encouraging and supporting her. No one to protect her from herself. Oh the price they paid was significantly higher than either parent was aware of. Maybe, just maybe their sacrifice wouldnt have fallen so short if they waited just a little longer. All they could do was try to guide her through their whispers. Would she even be able to hear them? Was she even listening? She was taught to listen to the whispers, but that lesson was one of the first. Worse yet, does she even want to hear from the whispers? Could she have been so traumatized that she may even despise the whispers? She wouldnt be open to hearing what they had to say, what they needed to share, or how they could guide her. No, they couldnt get to her and they failed. Their sacrifice had failed. They had to find another who could hear the whispers, but who?

Josh is turning 18, and with that milestone comes the possibility of finding his mate. Temperamental and, more often than not, the cause of his own problems, the only person who truly understands him is Darren. As his soon to be Alpha, it only makes sense that the two are so close. What doesn't make any sense is the sudden attraction to someone he's seen as a friend his whole life. Darren is the next Alpha, juggling an unruly beta and the weight of his own inheritance. At 19, life seemed to be going just fine for him until his Beta disappears right when bodies start showing up. Together, they must come to terms with being more than just Alpha and Beta and protect their pack from one of the biggest threats in its history.
