It has been fourteen years since the war between the two lands, Raia and Imagine, has begun. The kingdom of Imagine crumbles as its greatest leaders and magicians fall at the willpower of Lord Kai, the ruler of Raia. In the midst of this war is Fayline, a girl who wants nothing more than a Better Place, a better world. But when her village is attacked by demons and she is seperated from her brother and friend, her dream of finding a better place fades away. But then she meets Strasta, a young powerful wizard who seems to want nothing more than to torment Fayline. But as she spends more time with this strange man, she begins to wonder: Will this young wizard offer her her better place? Or lead her to a battle that is bigger than she thought?

Twelve-hundred years ago, the first king of Sacreon led a rebellion against an empire of witches. The war for who would rule next continues to this day. A false guise of peace came over Ert after two genocides, but there is no one so foolish as to claim the fighting is done. A prophecy claims that war will return to Ert when the moons are full once again on Ascenday. That day is growing closer now, and there is not a fool in the warring nations who does not dread its coming. In the midst of this all, the heirs to Sacreon struggle to find their place in this world of kings and knights and gods and elves and witches. A princess falls for someone she cannot hope to have, prince travels south to broker an alliance, a warrior seeks vengeance for the death of her sister. and the heir to a long forgotten kingdom quests for glory. Behind all of this, one man journeys north to an island of long forgotten magic with plans of justice, and The Wolf Witch goes west, searching for the one who can stop this war and unite Ert once again: The Silver Girl. Note: The Wolf Witch is meant to be a prequel to this book, and Sora will make an appearance, but she will not be a main character. By the way I take huge inspiration and influence from A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones so if you like that you'll probably like this (and my other writings I hope). Cover created by the most excellent @apprehensiveanne. It's very cool.

Trauma is a scary thing. Kai, age ten, figures this out the hard way. His mother is brutally murdered right in front of him, and his father was never seen after leaving for work that day. Kai is taken away by a scary, commanding man with blood red eyes. The man takes Kai to a big space underground, where there are many beaten and exhausted looking people in cages. Kai doesn't understand what is going on, but he doesn't want to ask the scary man who calls himself Thorn. Kai soon finds out the place is ruled by Thorn, and there are many other scary people with strange powers. There is a large, empty space in the middle, and that place is used for fighting. Kai is in awe of all of this, but mostly scared of what Thorn will do to him. Kai wakes up the next morning in one of the big cages. He doesn't remember what happened, but he feels different. What will Kai do when he finds out that he is now one of Thorn's minions -- a Dark? How will he escape this torture? Where is his father? Is there any point in living when all Thorn does is almost kill him?
