This story is set in a small neighborhood, small enough for there to be only 1 school district and only 2 ice cream shops (ice cream will be somewhat important because it's ice cream how can it not be important). The story follows 6 students at Burnwood Highschool. Jaxson Highelman, a boy who loves football with strength very unlike football players, making him an easy target for bullying. Nellie Dutchman, an upbeat girl with a very happy, yet quiet, personality, and an incredibly strong arm. Bailey Cavunoff, an extremely, almost embarrassingly, shy girl who hasn't said a word to anyone the entire school year except for her best friend Nellie, and she also kinda likes baseball. Wyatt Gwessner, a charming and rich boy who hasn't donated any money to anywhere in his life but still claims to do it all the time, he gets away with it too. Archer Wire, a boy with not much known about him except that he always wears a dark red hoodie and carries a messenger bag. Paulie Ryenods, an extroverted girl who surprisingly, doesn't say much on her own for an extrovert, even if she did, she has a slight stutter. These six form an unlikely friend group, but watch what happens when they discover things that could only be described with "pure magic".

Madison is a reserved girl with a comfortable yet uneventful life back home. She has good grades, a loving sister, and a father who's intent on her living her life to the fullest. But as soon as she arrives in Portland, thousands of miles away from her safety net, she's caught off guard by Archer, her new housemate. With his intimidating brown eyes, clipped replies, and mysterious demeanour, Archer is bound to wreak a little havoc whether she wants him to or not. He doesn't want her to pick up the pieces of his broken self as many have tried and she doesn't plan on upending her new life for a boy who won't even spare her a glance. Over time and amidst the various little white lies and destructive mistakes, they continue to hide their feelings. She wishes to protect her newfound friendships and he wishes to battle his demons alone. He'll promise her he needs her when no one's around to hear then insist there isn't anything between them when suspicions start to raise. Faced with situations she could only dream of and challenges she thought she'd never overcome; she has to hold herself together while her world crumbles around her. Will Madison throw caution to the wind and risk losing everything for someone who wouldn't do the same for her?
