Nagpasyang bumalik na siya sa Pilipinas at ituloy ang pangarap niyang maging abogada. Di nagtagal, nalaman niya na nagpakamatay ang kasintahan ni Timothy at ito ay lubos na nasasaktan dahil hindi niya ito nailigtas. Sinubukan nitong magpakamatay dahil sa pagkadismaya. Ngunit, pinauwi siya ng kanyang mga magulang sa Zambales at inayos ang kasal para sa kanya. Pinalitan ni Iris ang kasintahan nito bilang kanyang mapapangasawa. Ngunit ayaw niya rito, gayunpaman, hindi niya mababago ang desisyon ng kanyang mga magulang at sila ay nagpakasal. Trinato niya ito ng malamig dahil hindi pa rin niya nakakalimutan ang trahedya.
