The Amulet of Merlin has been used by Trollhunters for centuries. Every Trollhunter is given the task to protect it with their life. That has been the way since it was created, and everyone has done it well. When the amulet was created Merlin knew that there may come a time where a second person would need to wield the amulet while the owner was still alive.
