Book 2 of the Fate Series

It has been thirty years since the adventures of the Myelins. Since then the world has changed. The Divine Gate, while still holding is on the verge of collapsing. In the city of Vasselheim, a new group of adventurers are coming of age. With the return of the Betrayer Gods seemingly on the horizon, Vasselheim is preparing for war. And it is their responsibility to make sure Vasselheim weathers the assault as it has before. We begin on the airship dock, where a chance meeting will change everything...

*So, while I do not like to do this, I have decided to abandon this story. As well as it's sequel. There are a multitude of reasons for it, which will be explained in the most recent chapter that I just published. But I have hit a burnout on this story, and currently have no plans to finish it.*

Let me tell you a story of a kingdom that was once the most advanced civilization known to this day, a pinnacle of achievement that still astounds the universe with its grandeur and sophistication. Its twin towers were the centre of all knowledge of the universe, and their luminous rays radiated from the lights at the tip of each tower, guiding all travellers from across time and space back to its main doors. Until the day they arrived, from the shadows and as old as our known universe, we battled with all we had to contain this dark and mysterious life form. Our kingdom was about to fall. Our scientists found a way by creating a wormhole through space to a new world, granting us a chance to save our civilization. But something happened during the process... I was jolted awake to find myself alone, hundreds of years later, and all of those who had been with me gone. It was only after certain events that I discovered my immortality, so I vowed to rebuild the Orion civilization in this new world. One day, against all odds, I met her gaze, a unique gaze that only my wife Lisana had possessed. I later realized that it was her spirit reincarnated, as Kayronian we could only love one person, we were irrevocably drawn to each other regardless of distance and time. We lived happily until her death; many years later on a trip to another continent, I encountered her again, this time as queen of a Nordic people, multiple lives together followed, united by our eternal love and the immeasurable pain of reliving her death over and over again, in total I had to bury her with my own hands 87 times. The last Lisana implored me to break the cycle before it started again. Then the first occurrence happened, somehow they found a way to access this realm, through some rift, However, they were unable to keep their physical form in this world, i must find a way stop to them.

Lady Dawn expected to die. After casting her soul to the wind, taking a one-in-a-million chance to escape the wretched dungeons of Taegrin Caelum, the once-caged songbird of the Asclepius wishes nothing more than to find her Hearth and warn them of the coming danger. Instead, she's found herself a shade, anchored to a young man who knows far too much-and with far less hope than she'd started with. Toren Daen, for his part, only wanted to make it home safely. Now he's in a world taken straight from the page, questioning what is real and what is fiction, and scrambling to make something worthwhile. And with his foresight, there's only one way that Toren can see to keep this new world safe: prevent the descent of the Legacy. But those in power will not make it easy: Nico Sever is in a league of power all on his own, and Arthur Leywin bears the burden of Fate a continent away. In this familiar-yet-not world of mana, monsters, and looming deities, any misstep along the roads of Alacrya and the High Sovereign's Dominion could lead to a Fate worse than death. But what is death to a phoenix? With a burning secret in his mana core, knowledge of the future, and a maelstrom of fears and questions, Toren might just survive to be more than what Lady Dawn expected him to be. He might just survive to waylay the encroaching tide of death in the proxy war between raging asura clans. More than all of that, he might just live. (Semi-SI into Alacrya, character-focused story. Part 1 Complete.) (Part 1/3 of Discordant Note) (Part 2: Discordant Note: Crescendo | TBATE) (Part 3: Discordant Note: Requiem | TBATE) (Cover art commissioned by @_aphora_)
