The same year Izuku confesses his love to Shouto, he was kidnapped by the League of Villains. They were acting in a desperate attempt at an uprising against the heroes before they became too powerful to stop. Starting with Izuku Midoriya, it doesn't take long for the young hero to be rescued. His morals not being shaken by the kidnapping and having a loving boyfriend with him, Izuku intended to carry on with his dream of becoming the number 1 hero.

... But whispers, rumors of Izuku's "intentions" to exact revenge on his previous captors. Izuku was dropping in popularity and hope that the people will believe him when he says he bares no grudge is at an all time low. He retires from the hero life to become a protector in a way that nobody can say he's doing it out of spite.
