Sung Hyun lived her life as a male. Her fathers greed and inability to breed a boy drove him insane. To keep the legacy of his great grandfather running through the family he forced his daughter to dress like a man. Teaching her the art of the sword. He than passed away. Leaving poor Sung Hyun to take care of her mother a little sister. 

The king sent his men to fetch a tribute of eunuchs and concubines. On that day Sung Hyun's life changed when she traded her life for her mother's freedom.
