Part 1: The Commencement
After the passing of her mother, Clara Dubois discovers the mystical secrets of her family heritage and the evil witch demon, Serafina that threatens her. She learns that she carries the gate key to Heaven. As she learns to accept her new powers, she finds herself to be the center of attention between two feuding brothers. Elias portrays the dark, twisted, and selfish demon, and Julian is the demon who appears to be praying for redemption. Clara's heart becomes conflicted as the truth about the brother's past is revealed. It turns out, no one is who they pretend to be. Elias' dark mirage covers up the grief and pain from the life that he was forced into, and Julian's kind gestures hides the truth of his intentions. Once her enemy catches up with her, she is faced with a choice; the life of her true love or her own...
Part 2: Beholden
Elias is broken and empty without the love of his life. With his determination to use his new powers as the Key Holder, he gathers Julian, Quinn, Ashley, and Troy on a quest to resurrect Clara. They are on the hunt to find the Locket of Paradise, but in order to retrieve it, they must travel through the Hollow Grounds. No demon has ever survived this realm, but Elias was no longer an ordinary demon. He was different. He was changed. Once Elias succeeds in bringing back Clara, her heart seems to be shifted. Clara feels a strong connection with Elias, as if they are bound together. The connection is so strong that it controls her actions and she desperately wants to fall into his arms, but her love for him has consequences. The Underworld and Heaven despises anything that represents the integration between good and evil, and their decisions will cause a war. Is it worth the risk?

Cecilia Star has been alive long enough to know what it's like to be a demon in the human realm, but she's also been alive long enough to cope with her everyday life. But when she wakes up handcuffed to a strange Angel she's never met before, she's thrown for a loop. Cecilia assumes it's all just one big, extremely cruel prank by the twins in order to rile her up and test her limits. After all, Maisie is everything that Cecilia would rather leave behind her, determined, opinionated, and so very clearly wrong. But it doesn't take Cecilia and Maisie long to realize that the handcuff prank is a little more than just a lighthearted joke. The thing about Demon metal is that it is a fickle thing. It can only be unlocked by the person who has the key and no matter what method is used, it cannot be broken. Cecilia would rather just forget the whole thing, refuse to give Ezekiel the satisfaction he so wants, and remain handcuffed to Maisie for the rest of her life. It doesn't take long to realize that it's just not possible. Maisie is everything that she shouldn't be in the human realm. Bigoted, rude, and annoyingly difficult. She can't even get close to Cecilia without making some sort of remark on how she can't stand Demons. As the time ticks down and options become less and less, maybe being handcuffed to each other will teach Cecilia and Maisie a thing or two about themselves.
