The village of Alsos is dying.

With a dark fog came death and despair, and as time draws on, the village council decides there is only one way to rescue Alsos: to send two youth, a boy and a girl, to travel to the wizard in the mountains and plead for help as Maywise's Chosen Two.

Nazza longs to be one of the Two. She imagines braving the mountains with her best friend, Alyx, and the honor that would come when she saved them all.

These adventures, however, prove to be only dreams when not only is Nazza not chosen, but Alyx is selected to go on the journey with a girl Nazza despises.

Nazza changes her village's fate forever when she chooses to run away and follow the Two on their journey.
