Just because you pretend to be someone else... doesn't make your past disappear. 

An old friend of mine used to tell me that. For... eight years, I've been pretending to be a simple girl living with her "brother", a local blacksmith. 

I've been putting up this... façade that I'm nothing special, that I'm... like any other person. Truth is, I'm not. I'm living a lie. 

I'm not a simple girl living with her brother. He's not even my real brother. He's... just a close friend, and I'm not just any other girl... I'm a pirate, or... I was a pirate. I'm not anymore. I had to give it up to protect myself. My "brother" went along with it because I saved his life, and he owed me for that. 

At first, we hated each other. Now, we're close. We've seen sides of each other that... no one else has.
