Dallas Winston has always hated dogs. They smell, they drool, and constantly want to lick your face. Not to mention the fact that they poop, pee, and mess up the house. Dally is just too cool for a dog, and doesn't want anything to do with them. That is, when a little while after Johnny dies, Pony gives a golden retriever puppy to Dally. Dally doesn't know why, but he immediately falls inlove with the dog, even if he wouldn't ever admit it. This dog helps Dally through the many battles of losing a friend, so he names him Gold. All Gold has to do is stay.
