My Brother's Best Friend

"I wanted to talk to you," he said simply. "We had an argument about why he doesn't want us talking."

I was confused. "What are his reasons anyway? It seems kinda stupid to keep us from talking."

"Agreed," Nathaniel said. "The first reason was that I like you... a lot. And two, he said that it was the fact you like me and that he didn't want your heart to get broken."

I was so happy that it was dark outside. "Aren't you with Veronica?"

He sighed. "She broke up with me when she saw us together behind the Math & Science building. Ronnie knew how I felt about you but she couldn't just accept the fact that I like you instead of her. To be honest, we never were really dating. She just said that we were."

My cheeks burned. "You have a crush on me? The star basketball player of Merrytime High School has a fucking crush on me?!" I squealed. "Why didn't you tell me?"

"Your brother. Every time I've tried to tell you, your brother wouldn't let me," he replied sourly. Then he smiled coyly. "But he isn't in the way now, is he?"

And his rough hands cupped my face and put his lips on mine. We went slow at first but we soon picked up the pace. My hands were up in his hair as he placed me onto the ground. But then for one pain inducing second, we stopped and he pulled away. His face was only inches from mine.

"Are you sure you want to do this?" he asked busily as he put his hands in my sweater, his hands sending vibrations through my entire body.

I wanted him. "Yes," was all I said before we locked lips once more. I was secretly hoping nothing could separate us again.
