This is the story I'm writing for NaNoWriMo 2015. The goal: 50,000 word RAW draft written entirely in the month of November. Unlike most of my stories, which I prefer to edit before posting, I'm actually going to post updates to this at the end of each day in chapter-sized chunks. The idea behind this story is that a terrorist attack in the near future causes the US to go hyper-isolationist, to the point that it abandons Hawaii and Alaska to fend for themselves. They do, forming the United Pacific States (maybe with a few other island countries). Hawaii then goes on to turn itself into the new world police with stealthy, genetically modified cyber-soldiers. I'm marking this story as mature because there will be action scenes, and probably some interesting perspectives on nudity and relationships. I'm not planning on anything explicit, but this won't be a kids book. Validated winner at 50,040 words!

Long ago, there was a world known as Ryugaeia. It was a peaceful world where dragons and humans lived in harmony. Dragons were the keepers of the elements and humans were keepers of the world. Time passed and the Dragons and humans formed an alliance. The Dragons could lend their powers to the humans and the chosen human of each dragon became one with the dragon, inheriting great strength and elemental powers. However there was one dragon Armageddon, a dark dragon who hated humans, jealous of their duty as rulers of Ryugaeia. Armageddon revolted and awakened an army of Dark Dragons, then joining forces with an equally evil human warlord, he terrorized Ryugaeia. When evil was at its peak, a new hope was created. It was the Dragonhaärt. All the good dragons combined their spirits and a Dragonheart was born. This heart could control all dragon powers put together and Armageddon was defeated and sealed. This was however at a terrible price. Dragons suffered extinction and the Dragonheart was lost forever. Prophets and seers prophesied the return of the Dragonheart and the final defeat of Armageddon. In time all this came to be known as "The Tragic Legend." As to when the Dragonheart would return, no one knew.

Except this doctor named Doctor Brown has been saving his kills for years. He has now just retired at the age of 75 and some people say he is planning on killing many people. But Jed does not believe that. Until he is walking through a hospital and looks through Dr. Brown's office that Dr. Brown mistakingly left open. Jed looks at a board with tons of pictures on it. On the top, it says in big red letters "TARGETS." And he looks at the pictures again. And his face is the 5th picture. This astonishing phenomenon has also improved health, education, and longevity. The cause; an explosive growth in ideas and productivity. It began when we learned to control fire, evolved articulate speech and stumbled onto the way to create infinite wealth; free trade. The discovery of agriculture made us richer but we also learned how to destroy wealth. Great civilization grew up but then disappeared leaving only incredible ruins and ideas. Later books detail some of the ideas and developments that increased the average life span from about 40 years to more than 80 and the average world income from less than $3 to more than $33 per person per day (and to $140 per day in some countries).

But now in a New world where workers are oppressed and leaving in technology of the stone age, the Red Bear is awoken once more, and nothing would stop it from liberating the workers from it's chains.
