Emma grew up without a father. Her mom cared more about drugs than her own daughter. So Emma got herself out.
Pete grew up in a very religious family. When his parents discovered he wasn't straight, they sent him to a special camp to be fixed.
Like Pete, Alice grew up in a very religious family. Unlike Pete, they made sure to run away before their parents could retaliate.
Charlotte was adopted as an infant into a nice family. But on her eighteenth birthday, that loving family kicked her out.
These four have more in common than having rough lives. And their eventual friendship is more than just coincidence. They are all part of a larger world of the supernatural, as explained by Nikolaas Fischer, a witch from a special organization dedicated to protecting paranormals. The problem? The organization that Nikolaas works for is a front for something much darker. It's up to this ragtag group of half-trained teens to protect both worlds and put a stop to the Orion Group.
(A/N: The title is a work in progress. I'm not sure if I'm going to keep it as "Nearly Witches" or change it to something else. Suggestions appreciated!)

The Splice of The Realms
In a world divided into four groups, there is a role for everyone. Every group has their own realm found in each corner of the country they share. The top right corner has the largest population. There lives the people of the Mystery Realm (M.R.) They're the police force, detectives and prosecutors. They're the only realm which carries weapons of any kind. However, they don't kill. While they do value law and order, they don't like violence and tend to avoid it. The bottom left corner has the second largest population. The people there are born with unique powers. They're called the Supernatural Realm (S.R.) They tend to be optimistic and stubborn. They value relationships and would do anything to keep the people they love safe. The top left and bottom right corners are tied in regards to population, however, that is the only thing they share in common. These two realms couldn't be more different. In the top left corner is the society of the Technologically Enhanced Realm (T.E.R.) The people here develop technology the other realms could only dream of. They don't socialize with others and tend to keep to themselves. They understand complex equations and theories, however, they have a hard time understanding human emotion. Finally, in the bottom right corner lives the peaceful and happy people of the Primitive Harmony Realm (P.H.R.) The people here lead a simple life and believe in nature and its gifts. Because of that, they were blessed with healing abilities and elemental gifts. Additionally, the herbs they grow are just as magical as the people themselves. Their carefree and charismatic tendencies cause them to always believe the best in people, even when they shouldn't. Everyone has one thing or more things, that make them special. Perfect examples, able to burp the ABC's, singing backwards or even making things float with your mind. Yeah you heard me, I can make things float with my mind, and later you'll be finding what else I can do. For the longest time, it was always me, Aunt Grace and my best friend in all the world Lucas. My parents both died when I was little and I don't remember them; so I've been living with my Aunt ever since. We have family, but they aren't exactly in our zip code and they don't exactly keep in touch. We don't either, so we are really no better then them. On the night of my 16th birthday (anyone else feel like big events happen on someone 16th birthday? No, just me?) three strangers came knocking during my birthday party and that's when the truth of who I am, who my Aunt is and who my parents were--are. Leaving my normal life behind, I step into a world that has, Werewolves, Vampires, Giants, Fairies, Witches, Warlocks and Hybrids of mixed families, waiting for me. The first day at my knew school, lets just say I blew the roof off the castle. Long story short, really fast way to make people hate you even more then they already do real fast. New town. New identity. Same crazy. I love it!!! (insert enthusiastic voice ) (cough, cough) Not!! I hate it. I hate having to to hide who I am. But to protect the civilians and my new home from being destroyed like my last ones, I have obey the leader's rule. No matter if I do disapprove. But all of that changes when I meet, more like bump into someone who's special. ... DOOR OPENS. "Naomi Satchel!" my mother yells as she comes blaring through the doors. "Yes?" I say as I still lie under the covers. My mother pulls my cover from my body and tosses it on the floor. I quickly sit up in my bed and glare at her. "Get your ass up now you have half an hour left before your first-period starts and you better not be late," she demands. "Mom, this isn't my school. This isn't my home. I don't want to go." I whine and beg my mother at the same time to let me stay home. What was I thinking? My mom has an image to uphold being this perfect mother who loves and cares about her little baby girl.
