Willow leads a boring life, determined that she is simply a background character in everyone else's exciting novellas. She trudges through each day at her elite private school in the heart of Lietveld, a bustling global city, she only dares to make the most of it by forcing herself to have minimalistic small conversations with her seemingly only friends: Marie and Viktor. One day at lunch, the three decide to go to a party but what goes from a classic teenage rave turns into Willow running into Nikolai. At first, he presents himself a drunk and utterly a near barbarous boy who does nothing else but party and drink. Willow unwillingly lets him sleep over at her house, praying to never see him again but he keeps showing up in her life in so-called "coincidental" ways but she suspects something else. Slowly, he transforms from the lazy, unruly boy she met at the party to a darker and more mysterious boy on the edge of turning into a man with a much deeper goal.
