A dirty bomb is a nuclear warhead that fails to detonate properly but the explosives surrounding the plutonium core still explodes, spreading radioactive shrapnel at incredibly high speeds.
I use the term "Dirty Bomb" as a Euphemism for something catastrophic that fails to happen but the lack of the event causes a bigger problem. This book is full of those scenarios! Read along to find out how Layla, Brett, Dani, Isadore, Kyle, and Cici handle the impending nuclear war. Who will survive? Stay tuned for Book Two!

A nuclear explosion wipes out a small town in Indiana, which either kills, or rewrites the cells of anyone caught in it's range. Some people weren't able to handle it's affects, others have been changed. Everyone who survived was given a supernatural ability. Hallie Osborn was affected by the explosion, and was one of the few people her age who survived, and is taken into a hospital of sorts for people like her. Finn doesn't remember anything outside of the hospital, the first thing he could remember was the chemical tank. He's not sure why he's put in there so often, but isn't allowed to ask many questions. He's eventually introduced to the rest of the gifted, he explains to Hallie his time in isolation, not understanding how important he's become. The doctors and therapists are keeping many things from the gifted, and with the help of Finn, Hallie's going to figure out what.Concluida

But she's not the only one, there are nine others supposed to be besides her; two of which never made it past their mother's womb and one who's incompatible. What makes them special, is also what makes them dangerous. Ripped from their normal, day-to-day,school life, family and friends with no warning, they find out who they are. And why they're alive. But fitting back into that normal life they missed so much is proving to be hard. Especially for Maya, who has a tendency to get herself in trouble and extraordinary situations ENTIRELY her fault. (She'd rather die than admit that of course) Old life brings the problem of boys, unwanted advances, homework, teachers and of course, a boyfriend with she had a rather uncharacteristic meet-up. Scott, Sed, Andy are her childhood friends all the way with her in this. Almost all the way. They didn't expect her to change or to come back at all and they are having a HARD time adjusting to the new Maya. She's dangerous, she's hot and she knows it. She has done a lot in the past two years that will catch up to her and stuff after that which refuses to stay hidden.
