The Ultimate Despairs had reigned for what felt like an eternity, but Eryx wasn't surprised that his mentor died so quickly. She was an imbecile to think that getting personally involved in a killing game was a good idea, or to get a robot named Hope (of all things) to play. It had only been a matter of time until something went wrong.
Katrina Vennwork was used to life-threatening situations and people who weren't fully human, but that didn't mean the Killing Game she'd been thrown into was something she was prepared for. She was sure she and the other fifteen "students" would be able to all make it out alive, though. They had to.
