Caleb Dume is preparing for the trials that will make him a Jedi Knight when he meets Hera Syndulla, one of the youngest-ever cadets to the Republic's peacekeeping Starfighter Corps.
(No, this is NOT another "what if Order 66 never happened?" fic. It's actually more of a "What if Queen Amidala never called for a vote of No Confidence in Chancellor Valorum?" fic. While we can be certain that Palpatine would have continued with his- as I like to call it- sheevery, failing to manipulate the young Queen would have been a blow and a major setback to his nefarious machinations. The Jedi haunted her. The Force haunted her. But no matter how much she ran, it always caught up. The Galactic Republic was long gone, the Jedi were dead, even the Empire had been defeated. She'd lived through all of it, all because she'd ignored and hidden one of the most important things about her. The war was over, the Rebellion had won, the Empire was gone.
