"It's not that I'm a mute. I just refuse to talk." Emma Harris is NOT a mute. She just refuses to talk. After witnessing painful and brutal things in her fifteen years of life, Emma has become traumatized. Domestic abuse, Rape, Murder, Torture: she has seen it all. And every time she's witnessed such horrific moments, she's always told the same thing: 'Tell anyone and you'll be next.' For that reason, she had decided to just not speak at all for the rest of her life.
But..what if the new kids on the block can get her to break free of her condition. What if someone can help her learn to speak again? What if that person happens to be the boy next door?

Pain. It's all different for everyone. We all have our own tolerance, and our own versions of it to deal with. So if you consider it, my pain isn't all that important. I mean, people get raped every day right? And my rapist marking me as his, it's not so bad if you just ignore it.
